BIOGRAPHY

Terry Hess is a Managing Director of Victory Partners and oversees Victory Partners’ Restructuring practice. He boasts an impressive background constituting more than 30 years of investment banking, commercial finance, real estate development, and work-out and restructuring experience. Terry has held numerous senior executive positions within commercial banks ranging from the Chief Credit Officer to the Chief Executive Officer of various bank subsidiaries. Among his most notable accomplishments is the recapitalization of GlenFed Corp., a bank holding company for Glendale Federal Loan FSB. As a senior executive on the restructuring team, Terry was critical in the successful turnaround which took the company from near seizure by the OTS, trading at $3 per share, to selling the bank to CalFed 3 years later for $37 per share.

Throughout his tenure at GlenFed and the turnaround process, Terry played several pivotal roles, as demonstrated by his membership on the credit policy committee, loan committee, asset/liability committee, and management committee. In addition to his restructuring experience, Terry also has impressive real estate credentials. As a senior lender at the First National Bank of Chicago in their Real Estate Industries Group (REIG) as well as the Executive Vice President at Glendale Federal Bank, Terry has overseen and managed the development of over $500 million in specialty real estate projects located throughout the U.S., both as a principal and as an officer with major real estate developers.

He sits on the board of directors for Meals on Wheels in Ashville, NC, the Diana Wortham Theatre in Ashville and the University Savings Bank in Seattle, Washington. He was the Campaign Chairman for the United Way located in Glendale, California as well as a member of the Rotary Club in Ashville, North Carolina. Terry earned his BA in economics from Dartmouth College where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He has an MBA in finance and real estate from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
